Food for Fines

Starting on February 18th, through February 24th, we are participating in a Food for Fines program!  We (and you!) will be helping to restock the Marshall Food Pantry during the winter season. Each non-perishable food item donated will go towards $1 of book fines. Check the flyer below for more information! The flyer will also be located on the Events Calender Tab for easy access as well.

New DVDs Coming to MPL!

We have recently ordered Game of Thrones: Season Two as well as the Lord of the Rings trilogy (Finally!). Lord of the Rings should be here soon, and Game of Thrones will be here as soon as it's released in mid-February. Be sure and call or visit our catalog to put yourself on hold if you want to see either one!

BBC Reading Program

Today the Beastie Book Club's Reading Program started and it went great! With a nearly unanimous vote, the teens chose the first Harry Potter book as our reading material. We read the first chapter of the book, discussed it, had snacks, and did a quick craft! Everyone had a lot of fun and it was a great time for us as well.

It isn't too late to show up to our club either! We'll always begin meetings with a book recap so that no one feels left out even if they miss a chapter here or there. We'd love to see even more teens show up next week!

New and Improved Blog!

The blog that you're look at right now is new and improved!

We have recently added lots of additional information and features to this site! Now, along the top of the page, there are different tabs that lead to new pages. We have Events Calenders, Book Clubs, Teen Programming, and Children's Programming information on them. These resources can be extremely helpful when trying to find new and exciting events happening at the library!

Truman and Gateway Nominees are Here!

This year's Truman and Gateway Award Final Nominees were just announced! To make sure that everyone has the chance to read all of these outstanding books, we have ordered the entire list for our collection. Almost all of the books have came in, and those that haven't are on their way right now. Whenever you come in, be sure to check out our Truman and Gateway Nominees display and find a book that you'll like!

The Book of Mormon Girl

This was an interesting story of growing up Mormon and her conflict with her feminist ideas and rejection of the church. She goes through a transformation into living in a larger world yet continuing to love the values she learned in her church upbringing.
